Natureview Amherst Preserve

The Natureview Preserve in the Town of Amherst is over 2,000 acres of wildlife habitat just south of Tonawanda Creek.  The area is a mosaic of mature forest, second growth scrub and field; two-thirds of this preserve is state-designated wetland.  Birding is quite good here, with an abundance of woodpeckers (even pileated!), raptors, and more.  The Town is in the process of creating a master plan for the site.

The main trailhead begins at a gravel parking lot on Tonawanda Creek Road.  Take Sweet Home Road north to Tonawanda Creek Road.  Turn right and it's five miles up on the right.  Or take Campbell Boulevard (Rte. 270) north to Tonawanda Creek Road, turn left, and it's 1.5 miles up on the left.
