Purpose:
Friends of the Buffalo Niagara Rivers is a Western New York regional river
advocacy
organization dedicated to improving public access to and improving the
environmental integrity of WNY's rivers
History:
The Friends have been active in River advocacy since 1989. Our accomplishments
include the Buffalo River Habitat Restoration Projects, Buffalo River Greenway
Development Plan, 100' Setback Legislation along the Buffalo River and creation
of Old Bailey Woods Park. Our 2002 Priority Projects include coordinating the
local environmental community's participation the the Niagara Power Project
Relicensing Application, the remediation of contaminated sediments in the
Buffalo River, City of Buffalo Waterfront Planning including the LWRP and WCI
projects and implementing the Buffalo River Greenway Plan.
We strongly invite new members to participate on our Planning, River Ecology or
